    Responsibilities

    The Medical Assistant for Bellport Primary Care Center is responsible for managing the patient care visit from the time of greeting to the patient exit.  They will assist the provider in assuring that this visit is a timely and quality experience.  The Medical Assistant is an integral team member of the Patient Centered Medical Home.  They will actively participate in patient care as it relates to basic interviewing of the patient and their family, obtaining a concrete chief complaint and related information, basic intake skills as it relates to the physical exam and gathering of patient data.  Blood draw and spirometry will also be performed by the Medical Assistant.

    Qualifications

    Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

    Competent skills in assisting the physician or other allied health care provider in basic office based procedures, ie:  EKG and spirometry

    Excellent medical record keeping skills and knowledge of medical record standards

    Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy physician office.
