Ability to perform all tasks in the Boiler Operators field that improves the facilities environment of care for patients, employees and visitors at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Performs any and all other duties as directed by Engineering Management/Leadership whether of an emergent nature or otherwise and assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
High School Diploma or equivalency.
Ability to stand/walk for an entire 7.5 hour shift.
Ability to lift heavy objects and material.
Knowledge and ability to make repairs to boiler room, building and sewer treatment plant equipment.
Ability to read/write In order to understand and follow written instructions to ensure operation is in accordance with codes and regulations and document data and observe meters, manipulate valves and test and treat boiler water.
Approximately one to two years related experience necessary to trouble-shoot malfunctioning equipment and fully understand boiler and sewer plant equipment operation.
Write in order to post data onto log sheet and operate and make repairs to boiler room and sewer plant equipment as normally acquired through the completion of technical training.
Requires analytical skills necessary to detect malfunctions of a limited complexity and perform necessary adjustments and/or repairs required to maintain continuous operation of both boiler room equipment and sewer plant.
Requires interpersonal skills necessary to exchange factual information with department supervision and other hospital personnel.
