    The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CPCU) nurse gives direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients. The CPCU RN will be caring primarily for patients who have had cardiac related events and or procedure to include, cardiac catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary intervention (PCI), Pacemaker and ICD implants, electrophysiology studies and ablations.  The RN will be responsible for monitoring of patient which includes telemetry and hemodynamics as well as continuous assessment and medication administration.


    Applicant must possess current NYS RN license, BSN preferred.  BLS and ACLS certification required.  Successful completion of critical care course. Recent Critical Care or CPCU equivalent experience.  Physically able to perform CPR, lift and transfer patients, document and stand/walk for extended periods of time, and wear protective gear as appropriate for assigned area including, but not limited to isolation garments.  Practice reflects customer service excellence.  Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format.  Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems. Able to interpret ECG rhythm strips and identify changes and abnormal rhythms.  Able to monitor and interpret hemodynamic waveforms and identify abnormalities.
