The Operating Room RN is an integral team member in the safe, efficient care of the intraoperative client. The OR RN coordinates an individual patient plan of care after careful physical, emotional, mental and psychosocial assessment of the patient and the proposed surgical procedure. Collaborates for optimum patient care outcomes with all members of the patient care team (preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases). The OR RN integrates standards into daily practice and serves as a role model and mentor.
NYS Registered Nurse License
Minimum 1 year experience in Medical/Surgical, Operating Room or other ambulatory settings. Completion of an accredited OR Nursing program is acceptable.
Can stand/walk for 70% to 90% per day
Able to prioritize, anticipate and alter activities throughout the day
Possesses mature interpersonal skills
Able to cope with the frequent risk of exposure to blood/body fluids during normal duties
Able to cope with the environmental risks related to chemicals and steam
Able to cope with the possible exposure to communicable dise
